• Why Vinyl Siding is Perfect for Your Home

  • When it comes to choosing siding for your home, it can become a difficult decision with multiple options available, all of which come with different prices and looks.  The top options are usually wood, brick, fiber-cement, stucco, stone and stone-veneer, and vinyl.  For multiple reasons, vinyl tends to be on the top of choices for siding when replacing it on a home.  So why choose vinyl siding instead of the other options that are out there?

Price – Vinyl’s biggest advantage is its low cost.  It’s a very affordable siding option; according to Build Direct, it’s typically anywhere from $4,000 – $6,000 less per square foot than wood siding.  This is a huge cost saving for siding that lasts significantly longer and doesn’t have the same weather warping issues as wood and other siding options.

Durability – Vinyl has the advantage of being very durable.  This is great not only for lasting a long time but also for withstanding harsh weather conditions.  This includes precipitation as well as extreme heat and moisture, so it won’t corrode like other forms of siding, and most come with extended warranties so you can feel confident that your investment in siding will last a long time.

Maintenance – Because of vinyl siding’s durability, it requires little to no maintenance.  It stays looking good throughout its life since it resists pests like termites and rot and corrosion.  It also doesn’t require paint (which can be incredibly costly), so just re-caulk the joints and wash it every few years, and you’re good to go!

Aesthetics – Vinyl siding is very neat looking.  Because it comes with the color actually baked in, you won’t have the chipping that will show with paint.  Since it doesn’t rot or corrode, it always looks smooth and nice, and you can choose any color or grain you desire.  This leaves you with more options than most siding choices, and you don’t have to worry about constantly revamping it in order for it to keep its good looks.

Vinyl siding has many advantages to other forms of siding, but just like other home improvement projects, if not installed properly, you can run into moisture tapping.  For more information on proper installation of vinyl siding or for a 5-minute virtual quote, contact Zen Windows.
